… Drugs…
Cannabis, magic mushrooms, opium, morphine, heroin, amphetamine, methamphetamine, LSD, GHB, MDPV, MDMA, crack, cocaine… The list is really long!
Some countries are specialized in the production and distribution of one or more narcotic substances which have become the main activities and the driving force of their own (“underground”) economy.
Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, China, India, Afghanistan, Thailand, Morocco, Benelux, and many other countries of the World have witnessed for a long time an exponential growth in their (“underground”) wealth and their (“underground”) global geo-political weight. All generated by drug trafficking (and all strictly “underground”)!
But why all this growth? What is the cause of this huge drug demand? Why has the market grown so much?
The exponential growth in drug demand can be analyzed from different points of view.
The reason why the drug market has grown so much in the last century lies in several factors which, due to their breadth and depth, could abundantly be described as they represent different topics within the vast theme of Drugs.
In a nutshell, we could say that technological progress has contributed to overcoming many obstacles considered insurmountable in the past; poverty did the rest…
… in this regard…
The discovery of powerful phytostimulant and biostimulant molecules has favored the massive cultivation of plants used in the production of narcotic substances.
The technological advancement in the transport sector has greatly reduced the space-time concept: so it is possible to receive Drugs – coming from every corner of the World – directly at home and consume them while sitting on the sofa.
The advent of mass media, internet, social media, and many other connection ways has favored the spread of new models to follow, new sensations to experience, new limits to overcome.
Finally, the socio-economic conditions of some countries, classified as poor or in developing, have led entire sections of the population to live below the absolute poverty line: within which it is possible to draw on a large skilled labor force and at a very low cost, that is specialized and cheap farmers!
This has allowed the world population to be able to consume Drugs in every corner of the earth and at any time. Easy. Rapid. Cheap. And this has generated an exponential growth in demand.
Yes… the demand… the right law of demand and supply!
This incredible growth in demand has pushed a few countries, already specialized in the cultivation of narcotic plants, to increase such cultivation even more, thus becoming a world leader in the production and distribution of these substances.
Many other countries are instead specialized in the production and distribution of synthetic drugs.
Cocaine in South America, heroin in the Middle East and Asia, synthetic drugs in Asia and Europe, while cannabis in almost all the World.
The growing demand for Drugs has created a new development model that we could define as: “Drugs-System”. A model which has within it a new “pseudo-society” linked to the production and distribution of Drugs on a global scale.
Cartels. Narcos. Distributors. Pushers. Consumers. And many other interested parties.
The drug “pseudo-society” is articulated, complex, intricate. It lives on its own laws, its own courts, its own banks, its own governments, and its own religions that create a parallel World. A World in which this new “pseudo-society” takes shape.
A World in the World!
A World where stories, legends, illusions, and imaginations are born about the places and people who take part in the enormous multi-billion dollar businesses linked to drug trafficking.
A World where money is not being counted, but it is being weighed.
A World on which articles, books, films, photos, documentaries, and other forms of investigation have been trying for years to tell, illustrate, analyze, discover.
Some of these stories have become public knowledge and have “fascinated” entire generations. Pablo Escobar, El Chapo, George Jung, Special Corps, Secret Services… Men and Organizations who have fueled the plots of books, films, and documentaries made in order to tell what really happens within the drug trade.
And this is why the clash between the real World and the parallel World has been taking place for years. A clash involving: Men, Organizations, Governments, Secret Services, Special Corps, and other paramilitary groups waging a grueling war against drug trafficking.
A war with no winner yet, but full of pain, despair and death!
